Opening reception for VMF2019 muralist, Charlie Edmiston. Charlie is represented by South Main Gallery and has come to Vancouver for this show. We are so happy to be helping to produce his mural as well.
Gestalt, translating to “shape" in German, is a new body of work that explores the relationship between color and form. Emphasizing a more sculptural approach, the works in this series play with depth and dimension, turning each color field into a physical object. With raw wood and contrasting vibrant hues, a harmony is created between natural and man-made material.
About South Main Gallery (SOMA)
South Main Gallery offers a wide range of contemporary art, featuring works by emerging, mid-career and established artists. The gallery, designed by architect D'Arcy Jones, has become a touchstone in the dynamic arts community taking root in the South Main district of Vancouver. Affectionately referred to as SoMa, the neighborhood has been bolstered by the migration of some of the city’s top galleries into adjacent streets, and it is developing quickly, with the proliferation of microbreweries, boutiques, restaurants, bookshops, and art galleries. It has become a cultural, culinary and entertainment hub for locals and visitors alike. South Main Gallery has established itself as an integral part of this vibrant community and looks forward to exposing neophytes and seasoned collectors to a diverse mix of alluring and engaging artworks for many years to come.
