Artist Applications for 2019 will be live for the month of February
Thank you for sharing your work and stories with us!
In 2018 we received a LANDSLIDE of nearly 700 submissions locally and from around the world — THANK YOU! For 2019 we’re painting around 25 new murals for the annual festival in Mount Pleasant. We anticipate a lot of submissions for few walls again this year. We apologize in advance that we can’t be in touch with everyone, and thank you again for supporting VMF!
Applications for 2019 will be live from February 1st-28th, 2019. We will only have a few spots for artists coming from outside of the Vancouver area. Most selections will be from our huge pool of local talent. For our submission, we only ask to see an online link of your past work (i.e. website or instagram), so be sure those platforms are up to date and showcase your current work.
We look for many things while selecting our artists — creativity, talent and mural experience or capacity to scale are a few of those things. We’re also programming for a diversity of stories and experiences. With such an enormous pool of talent to select from, it’s been a dream to host a roster each year that is well represented by female and non-binary artists. And it’s our enormous pleasure to feature talent from the local Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations and other indigenous artists, as well as others from many cultural backgrounds.
We have opportunities throughout the year where we’re working on projects outside of our Mount Pleasant murals. If you aren’t selected to paint in this year’s festival, just know that we refer back to our submissions regularly to find matches for other projects!
Artist who have previously been featured as muralists as part of the Vancouver Mural Festival 2016-2018 will not be considered for another mural in the festival at this time
